Family Dentistry

Dr. Tarver and his team proudly provide compassionate dental services for all ages. Dental conditions, such as decay or gum disease, can often run in families. By treating your whole family, Dr. Tarver can look out for these conditions and provide timely and effective care. Our entire staff is great with kids, and we know how to put young patients at ease. We provide a full array of pediatric services, including fillings, cleanings, and root canal therapy.

Preventive Dentistry

The best way to enjoy a healthy smile is to prevent dental problems from occurring. For optimal preventive dental care, you should come in for an exam and cleaning every six months. At each appointment, our hygienist will remove plaque and tartar from your teeth. Every other appointment, Dr. Tarver will take digital x-rays to look for tooth decay, gingivitis, and other threats to oral health. To help you maintain your healthy smile, you will receive a goody bag with a toothbrush and floss.

Root Canal Therapy

When dental decay is not detected in time, it can spread to the soft pulp inside your tooth. Root canal therapy is often the best way to save your tooth. In most cases, Dr. Tarver will perform same-day treatment to quickly eliminate the discomfort of an infected tooth. First he will administer antibiotics and local anesthesia. Then he will clean out your tooth and root canals, fill them with a soft rubber compound, and place a custom-made dental crown.

Periodontics

If bacteria is allowed to build up along the gum line, it can eventually spread into your gums and cause them to recede. Left untreated, the gums form pockets that place patients at risk of risk tooth loss and bone degeneration. Periodontal treatments such as root scaling and planing remove bacteria from below the gum line to halt gum disease and reduce these pockets. Medical rinses can also help heal the gums and restore oral health.

Wisdom Teeth Extractions

Most people simply do not have enough room to accommodate their wisdom teeth. As they come in, they can cause severe crowding and other problems. If you have an impacted wisdom tooth, it is not able to come in all the way. As a result, it remains partially trapped by bone or soft tissue. This can cause severe discomfort, and it can raise your risk for infection. Dr. Tarver will only recommend wisdom tooth removal when it is necessary. He is able to perform both basic and complex extraction.

Dental Technology

Dr. Tarver uses advanced technology for the most comfortable and precise care. Our CEREC® (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) system can create same-day crowns and other restorations based on digital impressions of your teeth. Digital x-rays provide highly accurate images, and they involve extremely low radiation exposure. Dr. Tarver can also use our intraoral camera to show you detailed images of your teeth and gums on a flat screen TV. Because we are a paper-free office, Dr. Tarver can access all of your information at the touch of a button.
